Baby Einstein Bouncer
What to do with my 3 month old?
I am a recent stay at home dad with my 3 month old. I love playing with him but after 9 hours its a little exhausting. I am wondering if anyone has any good ideas for keeping him entertained. Me making faces at him gets old after a little while. I don't like to have him in his swing for more then 30 minutes, and his bouncer doesn't quite fit him yet so he gets bored after about 15 minutes. We do "tummy time" for 10 minutes, and watch baby einstein for about 30 minutes. I just want some more ideas to keep him entertained. I feel bad when he is just laying there. I used to take him to the park quite a bit but I gave my wife the car so she could get to work. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. No mean comments please.
As a stay and home mom, I totally understand. My husband is out of the house before we wake and comes home around 9pm. So it's a long day for me.
I've found that going on tons of walks helps a lot. You can put him in the baby bjorn, or whatever kind of carrier you have, and just go outside. If you don't have a carrier or he's too heavy, you can also just stick him in the stroller. At 3 months they start looking around a lot and going outside can be very stimulating. It also gives both you and the baby some space so you don't feel so "blah".
I don't know where you live, but I'm fortunate to have a ton of places to walk to and I go on a walk at least once a day for a couple hours-no matter what.
Another thing is getting a play mat with the bars that cross over the baby. That way you can hang stuff from it that he can play with, so he's not just laying there.
I also read my baby books (which at 5 months he now prefers to just eat) and I sing to him. He's about the only person on the planet who appreciates my terrible singing. My baby is also highly entertained if I just stick him under his mobile. He thinks it's hilarious and just laughs and talks to the animals.
You can also just stick the baby in the baby bjorn while you do stuff around the house. The baby generally will watch what you are doing, even if it's as boring as laundry or the dishes.
You can take baths with him.
I love my jumperoo-which I think might be what you mean by bouncer. I started putting him in it around 3 months and he was a little wobbly at first, but he grew to love it. I did put a blanket behind him to help stabilize him.
I try to cycle through things. Do the swing, then read him some books or play with him, then the jumperoo, then play some more, then feed him, then play some more, then the swing, etc. With a nap here and there.
I hope I gave you some helpful suggestions!
Good luck!
